Welcome to Cell Yourself.

Welcome to Cell Yourself.

The fictional health product driving public debate on stem cell breakthroughs

Cell Yourself is a revolutionary healthcare solution that harnesses the power of your own cells to create whatever you need: a replacement organ, eggs or sperm to help you have a baby, your own personal blood supply...

Wait a moment.

Cell Yourself is fictional. But the future it describes might not be.

This could be 100 years from now. Or it could come sooner. Much sooner.

Inspired by the rapid rate of progress in stem cell research, Cell Yourself invites you to imagine a future in which a range of outcomes for fertility, pregnancy care, preventative medicine and healthy ageing are looking increasingly plausible.

But what does the journey to this future look like, and how do you feel about the ethical questions it raises?

Episode 1

Opening the Black Box

How does new life go from a ball of cells to a structure that's recognisably human? We don't know. Scientists hope to find out using embryo models, with potentially game-changing results for the future of pregnancy. This first episode delves into the latest science and asks questions about how far we're willing to go.

Discover the future

What might the amazing developments in stem cell research mean for our future, and what are the ethical questions that we need to grapple with as the science develops?
